We all know evolution is a brutal business. It's a cutthroat world out there, where the strong adapt and survive, and the weak... well, they become extinct. Sounds familiar, right? This same Darwinian principle is now playing out in the digital realm, thanks to the mighty force of Artificial Intelligence, or AI.
A Brief History of AI
Believe it or not, the dream of creating intelligent machines dates back to ancient Greece. The Greeks had these wild ideas about creating artificial beings to do their bidding. Fast forward to 1956, when the term "Artificial Intelligence" was coined by computer scientist John McCarthy. He defined it as "the science and engineering of making intelligent machines." Nowadays, a whopping 56% of Americans interact with AI daily, showing just how close we've come to realizing those ancient Greek fantasies.

“AI-nxiety”
Reality is most of this anxiety stems from the media we consume. If you give it some thought, most all movies with AI in them always have them going rogue and causing an apocalypse. Aside from the movies, there has been a stigma surrounding AI that it’ll replace humans in jobs for the sake of more efficiency so upon hearing this people will always shut down the possibility of implementing part of it in their lives when in reality it already is. Look at AI such as Siri that's part of majority of the phones we use, I don’t think she's going to commit mass genocide soon right? Plus, that cute little bird from Duolingo can’t possibly end someone's life, I mean look at him. Point is, the change that people are so afraid of is already here, and the fact that most people don’t notice at first is a sign not to worry because AI is meant to assist and not replace us and it is vital for everyone, not just business owners, to be educated on it.
